Nike was setting the framework for Air Force 1’s 40th anniversary even before 2022 began, adding both GR hues and collaborative products to the calendar. Furthermore, the occasion has been leveraged by the firm to debut new models, such as this Fontanka-inspired Air Force 1 High.
However, unlike the Fontanka, the pair’s construction is more akin to the original silhouette. React cushioning is completely eliminated from the sole, which is replaced with a normal, vintage-colored sole unit. The outsole also lacks the split design, instead of being built as a single piece, and the stitching above is much more uniform. Only the eye stays are definitely inspired by the redesigned AF1, which stacks panels in a similar manner.
Outside of the context of comparison, the shoe appears to be a mash-up of the Air Force 1’s low and high-top trims. While the latter wins out since it defines the overall shape, the afterimage of its shorter sibling may still be seen. The second heel tab, whose lower placement matches up perfectly with the perforations across the profile, is the best example of this.
This Air Force 1 High features an hourglass-shaped emblem and can be seen in more detail in the official photographs below. Its debut on Nike.com and at select shops will almost certainly be accompanied by more information.
