Review: What To Wear With Your Air Jordan 12 Utility Grind

The Air Jordan 12 Utility was originally seen in an environmentally responsible “Grind” makeup as part of Jordan Brand’s fall 2021 Air Jordan retro collection, and now official photographs of the sustainable style have appeared.

The AJ 12 Utility Grind, which features a stately build, sporty highlights, and recycled design, is the first model of Michael Jordan’s twelfth trademark sneaker to feature reprocessed materials.

A premium black leather upper with traditional stitched details and shiny silver top eyelets kicks things off. The mudguards are constructed of black suede, a departure from the 12’s normal pebbled leather mudguard, and red trim around the midfoot logo, as well as red-rimmed “TWO 3” graphics and Air Jordan emblems on the tongue, add a splash of color. The top half is finished with black heel tabs with anthracite branding.

Zoom Air components are packed inside the midsoles for added comfort. They have a basketball-like pattern on the forefoot and a smooth texture on the heel, and they sit above the characteristic “Grind” detail: an icy blue recycled rubber outsole.

Black and silver rubber flecks highlight the recycled content in this distinctive outsole, which also features a characteristic carbon fiber midfoot plate and black herringbone traction for added stability and traction.
