The AJ 12 Utility Grind, which features a stately build, sporty highlights, and recycled design, is the first model of Michael Jordan’s twelfth trademark sneaker to feature reprocessed materials.
A premium black leather upper with traditional stitched details and shiny silver top eyelets kicks things off. The mudguards are constructed of black suede, a departure from the 12’s normal pebbled leather mudguard, and red trim around the midfoot logo, as well as red-rimmed “TWO 3” graphics and Air Jordan emblems on the tongue, add a splash of color. The top half is finished with black heel tabs with anthracite branding.
Zoom Air components are packed inside the midsoles for added comfort. They have a basketball-like pattern on the forefoot and a smooth texture on the heel, and they sit above the characteristic “Grind” detail: an icy blue recycled rubber outsole.
Black and silver rubber flecks highlight the recycled content in this distinctive outsole, which also features a characteristic carbon fiber midfoot plate and black herringbone traction for added stability and traction.
