Safari print has appeared on a variety of Nike shapes and in a variety of styles, but many people will associate it with atmos’ Air Max 1 collaboration, which debuted in 2002 and was retroed in 2016. The iconic design will be reintroduced on the Sportswear silhouette in 2022, this time in a brighter hue that corresponds to the Spring/Summer season.
Taking a page from the Japanese retailer’s playbook, the Swoosh design team adds a subdued gray safari print to the mudguards and collars. In addition, the heels have huge Swooshes, while the forefoot has miniature Nike checks. The tongue branding, side logos, and backdrops of the inserts are all done up in “Worn Blue,” while the uppers are mostly decorated with “Cobblestone” overlays. The midsole parts are painted in a milky color scheme, while the treading is more “Cobblestone” in design.
